Learning Objectives

 

a. Understand how psychoactive drugs work in the brain


b. Understand the limitations of currently available medications for mental illness


c. Be aware of recent developments in new medications and repurposed older
medications for the treatment of mental illness.


Presented By

David P. Yells, Ph.D.


Bio

Dr. David Yells earned a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychobiology from the University of Nebraska in 1994. He served a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. Yells has served in various faculty and administrative positions at Utah Valley University and Texas A&M University-Texarkana. His research interests include Substance Use Disorder and the biological influences on mental health. He has been very happily married to Dr. Kristine Yells for 10 years. They share seven children and 14 grandchildren.
