The Utah Social Work Association is holding our second Half-Day Intensive of 2024. We’re excited to welcome Cassidy DuHadway to provide a high quality educational opportunity.  We will have in-person options as well as a virtual attendance option. See details below.


Overview & Objectives

In this comprehensive presentation, we will delve into two critical areas that are often misunderstood: ADHD and Dissociation. The first two hours will focus on ADHD,  Cassidy will share valuable insights and practical strategies to help you better support clients with ADHD. We will explore how to affirm ADHD, support ADHD Neurodivergence, and understand its negative impact. Additionally, we will examine ADHD diagnosis, manifestations in practice, gender differences, and relational dynamics. The session will include hands-on tools and techniques to help your clients manage their overwhelm and ADHD, enhanceing their capacity to navigate daily challenges.

 

In the final hour, we will shift our focus to Dissociation, providing an overview of the dissociative spectrum and what to do as a therapist. This segment will cover the key concepts, signs, and therapeutic approaches to effectively support individuals experiencing dissociative symptoms.

Goals:

  1. Enhance Understanding of ADHD: Equip participants with knowledge and practical strategies to support clients with ADHD.
  2. Explore ADHD Accommodations and Impact: Discuss how to affirm ADHD, accommodate varying cognitive functions, and understand its implications as a disability.
  3. Address Gender and Relational Differences: Examine how ADHD presents differently in men and women and its effects on relationships.
  4. Provide Practical Tools for Managing ADHD: Offer actionable techniques to help clients reduce overwhelm and improve management of daily tasks.
  5. Introduce Dissociation: Provide a foundational understanding of dissociation and its role in trauma therapy.

Objectives:

By the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify effective strategies for supporting clients with ADHD, including practical accommodations and tools.
  2. Understand the impact of ADHD as a disability and how it affects cognitive functioning and daily life.
  3. Recognize gender differences and relational challenges associated with ADHD.
  4. Utilize hands-on tools to help clients manage overwhelm and improve their capacity to handle daily responsibilities.
  5. Grasp the basics of Dissociation, including its signs, implications, and therapeutic approaches.

Cassidy DuHadway, LCSW

Cassidy DuHadway, LCSW, is a highly respected therapist and trainer, renowned for her profound understanding of the human experience and her remarkable ability to facilitate healing journeys. With over 18 years of experience in the mental health field, Cassidy’s specialization in trauma and early-childhood wounds has made her a sought-after expert in the industry. She is the CEO of Purple Sky Counseling and is an EMDR Approved Trainer and Certified Consultant, providing BASIC and Advanced training on Mental Health and Trauma.

As a late diagnosed ADHD human, Cassidy has hyper focused into all things ADHD. Now she is excited to not only help clients fully understand and support their brain, but to help therapists take their skills to the next level by providing the right support, tools and skills to truly help their clients.

Cassidy is passionate about empowering fellow therapists and supporting clients on transformative journeys. Her approach centers on normalizing the human experience, fostering empathy and acceptance to create lasting change. She continues to inspire therapists and clients alike, leaving an indelible mark on the mental health field through her dedication and unwavering compassion.

Continuing Education Credit

For those that have registered in-person and virtually, this event will offer 3.0 hours of CE credit. This presentation schedule has been approved for CEU credit by the Utah Social Work Association Executive Board.

Space is limited and there are 50 in-person seats available.  Virtual registration is also available and there will be well enough space virtually if in-person reaches capacity.  The price for non-members is fixed at $30 for both in-person and virtual attendance.  See below for options on how to register.  For members, the cost to register for either in-person or virtual is $5.
